Combine Lawn Aeration and Lawn Fertilizing For A Healthy Lawn

Posted by: eden real estate admin / Category: garden

Don’t you just love to head out the front door of your house and look upon a beautiful, well tended, weed-free lawn. I know that when I have let my lawn go it really bothers me. Of course, to have that well tended and healthy lawn, it takes work. When I am on top of things and can get the aerating, fertilizing, and regular watering done (easy to do with sprinklers!), the lawn looks so much better. That is why I rely on others to take care of the not-so-regular part of my lawn care. My weekends are important to me and I do not want to spend $40 renting an aerator when I could pay someone the same amount of money and have them do it for me.

Aerating your lawn is typically done in the spring and then again in the fall. When you aerate your lawn, holes are punched into the thick and compacted soil. It breaks up the thatch and gives the soil a chance to breathe. The roots of the grass have a chance to spread out and grow deeper, providing a richer and healthier lawn. When you combine lawn aeration with fertilizing you are giving your lawn the best odds of thriving through tough weather. This is so very important just prior to winter weather.

Sprinkler systems must be blown out before cold winter weather sets in. This is one of the most difficult activities for a homeowner to “do it yourself.” Compressed air is used, after all but one of the valves are closed off, to clear out any water in the system so that it can’t freeze when the temperature drops. Mistakes during sprinkler system blowout can result in burst pipes, leading to expensive repairs.

As fall rolls around, it is time to consider all the activities in your life. With all that is happening you may want to consider letting others help with the not-so-regular lawn activities of lawn aeration, lawn fertilizing, and of course sprinkler blowouts. Make sure to schedule your sprinkler blowouts sooner than later, as people will book up.

Just a couple of other things – include a good winterizing fertilizer after the aeration of your lawn. Your grass will appreciate the food and winter won’t be so hard on the lawn. Also, try and bundle up the services to save – don’t forget to add a sprinkler blowout too.
